“Actors Are Being Forced To Be Social Media Content Creators” – Jemima Osunde
Jemima Osunde, a well-known Nollywood actress, has expressed worry about the growing pressure on performers to become social media influencers in order to get acting jobs.
Osunde talked about how an actor’s internet presence is now very important in the Nigerian film industry in an open Instagram video.
According to her, casting selections now heavily consider social media indicators like follower count, engagement, and content production.
Her remarks sparked debates about the reasonableness of these expectations among fans and business experts.

Jemima Osunde bemoaned the fact that, regardless of their acting prowess or part fit, gifted performers run the risk of being passed over if they don’t have a strong online presence.
She went on to say that this trend compels actors to juggle two difficult occupations at once: content development and performance.
Some actors might not have the time or expertise necessary to maintain an active online presence.
Additionally, Osunde critiqued the way this change blurs the boundaries between the duties typically performed by a movie’s marketing staff and the craft of an actor.
She highlighted that actors had to be selected based on their skill rather than their capacity to get attention on social media.
