Condolence Register Opens At Late Eagles Star’s Residence
A Condolence Register has been officially opened at the Lagos home of late Super Eagles legend, Prince Peter Rufai (aka: Dodo Mayana) as tributes continue to pour in from across Nigeria and beyond.
The register, opened by the Rufai family, is available for friends, former teammates, fans, and well-wishers to pay their respects and leave heartfelt messages in honour of the iconic goalkeeper, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday, 3rd July 2025, at the age of 61.
Family members present at the residence welcomed early visitors on Friday, expressing appreciation for the outpouring of love and solidarity shown by the public since the news of Rufai’s death broke.

The Condolence Register will remain open daily for the time being, allowing people from all walks of life to honour Rufai’s memory and share their personal reflections.
Rufai, who was Nigeria’s first FIFA World Cup goalkeeper at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the USA and a key figure in the Super Eagles’ 1994 AFCON triumph, is being mourned as one of the country’s greatest football ambassadors. His death has sparked tributes from football administrators, former international teammates, government officials, and fans across the globe.
The family earlier released a Statement thanking Nigerians at home and abroad for their overwhelming support and noted that burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
