De Jong Won’t Leave Barca This Summer –Laporta

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reiterated that the club has no plan to sell Frenkie de Jong.

Laporta made this known at a golf event, where he insisted that Barca want to see De Jong put pen to paper on a new deal.

“We want Frenkie to stay here for many years. He’s a key player for the team.”

For his part, De Jong has also expressed hopes of agreeing an extension this month.

De Jong enjoyed a remarkable turnaround in his Barça career last season after years of exit rumors and criticism by his own fanbase, but he adapted brilliantly to Hansi Flick’s system and became a crucial piece of the team in the second half of the campaign after returning from a serious ankle injury.
