Young Women in Leadership empowers next generation of female leaders with skills to thrive
Beyond Boundaries, in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership, has hosted the Young Women in Leadership Conference 2025.
The maiden event held at the State House in Abuja focused solely on young women, aged 21 to 35 and delivered on its bold mission including breaking barriers around leadership, funding, financial literacy, and digital empowerment for Nigerian women.
“Hosting young women at the heart of national leadership symbolises the future Nigeria must embrace, one where women are not only seen but equipped to lead in governance, business, technology, and the creative industries,” Olu Olufemi-White, founder of Beyond Boundaries, explained why giving the significance of the leadership event.
The Young Women in Leadership Conference 2025 is a turning point for advancing women’s leadership and economic empowerment in Nigeria.
By merging inspiration with action, Beyond Boundaries has created more than a moment. It has built a movement that will ripple through generations.
It was attended by dignitaries, including Hannatu Musa Musawa, minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy; Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, minister of Women Affairs; including corporate leaders like Owen Omogiafo, Ibukun Oyedeji, and Teniola Apata, a music icon.
Beyond inspirational conversations, the conference drove tangible impact as participants were awarded scholarships for digital literacy programmes, a critical investment in equipping young women with the technical skills needed to lead and thrive in the modern economy.
Additionally, solar panels were distributed through a raffle draw, providing beneficiaries with access to renewable energy to empower personal growth and business activities, particularly for women from underserved communities.
“Winning a digital literacy scholarship and a solar panel changed everything for me. I now have the tools to build my career and the confidence to lead. This conference gave me hope and a future I couldn’t have imagined,” one of the scholarship recipients who does not want her name in print said while sharing her experience.
